Vision in Motion:

Still? Moving? Problem solved.

There is a problem with arm-mounted vision, and this is a big reason why conventional approaches have avoided using it. An arm-mounted camera is moving, and this complicates the use of the generated imagery.

But this problem has been solved by our patent-pending VISION IN MOTION technology, enabling our camera to see moving objects while the camera is moving.

This game-changing approach allows us to avoid overhead gantries, fixed-mounted cameras, and conveyor encoders. It allows us to detect moving objects as easily as stationary ones.

Conventional workcells (gray) require the robot to be fixed-mounted. Objects are either stationary or moving at constant speed on an instrumented conveyor.

Our approach enables automation across the whole field of possibilities. The robot can be fixed or mobile mounted. Objects can be stationary or moving, even grabbed from a person’s hands. This flexibility is particularly helpful for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing. Fixturing is minimized, changeover is simplified, and robotic workcells are more readily integrated into existing workflows.
